Abstract:
The performance of on-orbit radiometric calibration is the key factor influencing the quantitative application of Fengyun-2 (FY-2) satellite. After a brief review of the development of on-orbit radiometric calibration for FY-2 satellite, the latest introduced cross-calibration method with high spectral-resolution instruments and the self-developed calibration of inner blackbody corrected by lunar emission (CIBLE) are both highlighted for their technical features. The two kernels of CIBLE include lunar calibration and inner blackbody calibration. It is indicated that, the difficult problem of how to precisely calibrate the radiometric response varying frequently with the environmental thermal fi eld for infrared bands for FY-2 satellite has been solved by CIBLE, which can be considered as one of the most important technical breakthroughs in calibration society for geostationary meteorological satellites in China. The CIBLE software has been operating on FY-2F, FY-2E and FY-2D ground systems in July 2012, March 2013 and May 2013, respectively. Finally, some preliminary thinking and discussion are conducted on the future development of on-orbit radiometric calibration technology for meteorological satellites.
