Operator’s Safety Risk Assessment in Weather Modifi cation Implementation

More Information
  • Human's psychological status, which closely related to unsafe behavior, is an important factor in safety management. By analysis of psychological status of weather modifi cation (WM) operators, a safety risk assessment model is constructed by using three elements of life events, social support and coping style. Setting 40 life changing units for WM operators, the contribution coeffi cients of social support and coping style were set up respectively according to their values. Then the quantitative calculation formula was deduced. Investigation results of 335 artillery and rocket operators for WM show that the total social support score is 45.94 ±7.94, the active respond dimensions score is 2.0 ±0.49, and the negative is 1.26 ±0.54. Signifi cant differences exist among operator groups in different ages:comparing to the younger and the elderly groups, the middle age group is more adept at using social support resources and actively respond to the challenges of life. The operator's safety risk assessment results in WM implementation may be regarded as determining criterion for effective prevention of security incidents in fi eld operations induced by human factors.
