Research Progress and Outlook of Atmospheric Ice Nuclei

  • Atmospheric ice nuclei, as one of the major research topics in cloud and precipitation physics, plays an important role in weather forecasting and climate change studies.The study of atmospheric ice nucleating particle (INP) is of great scientific significance for improving the understanding of precipitation formation mechanism in northern China and guiding the operation of weather modification.This paper sorts out the INP research results at home and abroad, preliminarily summarizes its observation methods, physical and chemical properties and parameterization, and discusses the hot spot topics of INP at present and in the future.All the efforts are aimed to shed some light on the future development of INP observation and cold cloud modeling in China.
