Research Advances in the Effect of Urban Heat Island

Urban climate is a special regional climate, which results from the local climate circulation and human activities. Urbanization makes cities more and more vulnerable to the meteorological environment and natural disasters. Therefore, research on urban climate is very important to city development and its safety. A basic theory and science research in urban climate is reviewed in the paper. The hot topics and recent advances in the urban climate fi eld are also discussed. Based on the review and discussion, some suggestions are given for the future urban climate.
